About the Role

Our client operating in the Food Manufacturing / FMCG Industry is currently looking to employ a Data Analyst to join their team based in Irene, Johannesburg. The successful candidate will be responsible for analyzing and interpreting complex data sets to inform business decisions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Master Data and System Maintenance: Manage users and system roles within reporting and BI environments.
  • Maintain master data including creation, updates, and deletion of records.
  • Commission and decommission datasets where required.
  • Dashboard and Reporting Development: Design and maintain the reporting environment including data sources, metadata, and security.
  • Develop dashboards, reports, and business intelligence solutions.
  • Troubleshoot reporting databases and reporting systems.
  • Compile and distribute reports to management and internal stakeholders.
  • Train end-users on new dashboards and reporting tools.
  • Data and Financial Analysis: Analyse operational and financial data to identify trends and insights.
  • Conduct process constraint analysis and identify improvement opportunities.
  • Prepare margin reports, pricing models, and cost trend analyses.
  • Report on breakeven points by product, work centres, and divisions.
  • Support costing processes and target costing initiatives.
  • Data Management and Data Processing: Develop and maintain databases, data systems, and data pipelines.
  • Acquire and integrate data from multiple sources.
  • Perform data cleansing, normalization, and validation.
  • Analyse large datasets to identify trends, patterns, and business insights.
  • Reporting and Data Visualization: Prepare reports and presentations for business stakeholders.
  • Present insights through data visualization tools and dashboards.
  • Provide ad-hoc analysis and reporting support to management.
  • Audit and Compliance Support: Conduct data investigations and anomaly detection.
  • Assist with data verification processes during internal or external audits.
  • Collaboration and Process Improvement: Work closely with developers, engineers, and management to identify process improvements.
  • Recommend system enhancements and data governance strategies.
  • Identify tasks that can be automated to improve efficiency and reporting accuracy.

Requirements

  • Degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related field
  • 13 years experience in a Business Intelligence or Data Analysis environment
  • Experience with SQL querying and BI reporting tools (Qlik advantageous)
  • Knowledge of ERP or accounting systems advantageous
  • Proficiency in MS SQL, Microsoft 365 / MS Office skills (Excel, PowerPoint, Word)
  • Experience working with data visualization tools and reporting systems
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently and within a team
