About the Role

The Senior Bookkeeper will be responsible for the full bookkeeping function across multiple entities, ensuring accurate financial reporting, compliance, and operational efficiency. This role requires a mature, proactive, and highly dynamic individual with strong analytical capabilities and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage full-function bookkeeping across multiple companies and jurisdictions
  • Maintain accurate financial records, including general ledger, journals, and reconciliations
  • Handle multi-currency transactions, foreign exchange adjustments, and reporting
  • Prepare monthly management accounts, including income statements and balance sheets
  • Oversee accounts payable and receivable functions across all entities
  • Perform bank, creditor, and debtor reconciliations
  • Ensure compliance with South African financial regulations and international standards where applicable
  • Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management
  • Prepare and submit VAT returns and other statutory requirements
  • Liaise with auditors, tax consultants, and external stakeholders
  • Monitor and improve internal financial controls and processes
  • Support senior management with financial insights and reporting
  • Oversee payroll inputs and ensure accuracy in financial integration
  • Manage financial systems and ensure data integrity across platforms

Requirements

  • Diploma or Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
  • Minimum of 8 years experience in a senior bookkeeping or similar role
  • Proven experience working in a multi-company and multi-currency environment
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles and financial reporting
  • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Sage, Xero, QuickBooks, or similar)
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
  • Experience with VAT, SARS compliance, and statutory submissions
