The Person: Degree or Diploma in Accounting, Taxation or a related field. Tax Technician Certification or equivalent. B.Com with a Tax major, Higher Certificate in Taxation, or formal Tax Certification, a strong advantage. Minimum 2 to 3 years in a tax production role – personal or company. Demonstrated ability to prepare a high volume of returns accurately and within deadline. Expert-level SARS e-Filing proficiency required. Full proficiency in Infinity workflow management. Prior experience guiding or overseeing junior staff preferred. Demonstrated ability to plan and distribute work across a small team. Demonstrated ability to maintain accuracy and filing discipline under a high volume of concurrent client engagements. The Job: Report to the Tax Manager or Partner: Tax Return Preparation – Volume and Accuracy: Prepare personal tax returns (ITR12, IRP6, ITR12T) or company tax returns (ITR14, IRP6, IT14SD) at the volume and speed the department requires – accurately, completely and within internal timelines. Populate tax computation formats correctly and completely. Work through a high volume (3000 clients) of returns without sacrificing accuracy or filing discipline. Submit all completed returns to the Manager or Partner for approval. Self-check all work before submission – returns submitted for approval must be correct, complete and formatted to the firm's standard. SARS e-Filing – Expert Navigation: Operate SARS e-Filing at expert level. Submit returns, process payments, respond to e-Filing correspondence, manage assessments, handle audit notifications and navigate all e-Filing functions independently and accurately. Monitor client e-Filing accounts for new correspondence, assessments, penalties and SARS queries. Guide and train Administrators on e-Filing navigation and best practice. Team Oversight – Clerks and Administrators: Oversee the day-to-day work of all Tax Clerks and Tax Administrators in the supervised team – ensuring every team member has work, understands their tasks and is operating at their grade. Assign tasks to Clerks and Administrators appropriately. Monitor output quality and turnaround time across the team. Workflow Planning: Plan and distribute the team's workload across active tax engagements – every return, every tracker, every deadline is assigned, scheduled and monitored. Prioritise work based on internal deadlines, client urgency and team capacity. Use Infinity as the primary planning and monitoring tool. Basic Training: Train Clerks on initial workflow steps, framework preparation and document management. Train Administrators on return preparation procedures, e-Filing efficiency and workflow discipline. Support every team member's bi-annual T&D session. Escalation Discipline: Escalate all tax advice, client technical questions, disputed assessments, complex SARS queries and any matter requiring a tax opinion to the Manager or Partner. Ensure Clerks and Administrators know to escalate questions they cannot answer to the Supervisor. Infinity Workflow Management: Update personal workflow entries in Infinity in real time at every stage of every engagement. Monitor the team's Infinity entries as part of the daily supervision cycle identify gaps, stale entries and missed steps immediately and resolve them. Ensure every Administrator and Clerk in the team updates Infinity immediately upon completing each step. Work with the Process Management team – respond to daily reports and gap flags promptly. Use Infinity to plan and distribute team workload. Saving and Filing Protocols: Ensure all documents, returns and correspondence are saved and filed in accordance with the firm's document management standards. Monitor filing discipline across the team. Flag any filing gap or document management failure to the Manager. Firm Policy Compliance: Actively participate in both bi-annual T&D sessions with a self-driven agenda focused on technical qualification development and leadership growth. Engage with the annual one-on-one with the Group CEO to discuss qualifications, leadership development and the pathway to Tax Manager.
