Luxury 5* Game Lodge based in the Kalahari; Northern Cape is looking for a Trails Guide to deliver exceptional; informative, and safe safari experiences to guests while showcasing wildlife, conservation principles ; and the natural environment in a professional and engaging manner consistent with luxury hospitality standards. Duties: Guest Experience: Conduct guided game drives and/or walking safaris in a safe, informative, and engaging manner Interpret wildlife behaviour, ecology, and local culture to guests Always ensure a personalized and memorable guest experience Assist with guest hosting duties (meals, transfers, special requests) Maintain a high level of professionalism, presentation, and communication Safety & Compliance: Ensure strict adherence to safety protocols during all guiding activities Conduct risk assessments before and during drives/walks Maintain firearms competency and ensure safe handling Ensure vehicles and equipment are in safe working condition Comply with all reserve, legal, and conservation regulations Conservation & Environmental Stewardship: Promote conservation awareness and sustainable tourism practices Monitor and report wildlife sightings and environmental changes Assist with anti-poaching awareness and conservation initiatives Educate guests on biodiversity and ecosystem management Vehicle & Equipment Management: Conduct daily vehicle checks and basic maintenance Ensure cleanliness and presentation of safari vehicles Manage guiding equipment Report mechanical issues promptly Administration & Reporting: Record daily sightings and guest activity logs Complete incident and maintenance reports when required Assist with reserve data collection and research Team Collaboration: Work closely with trackers, lodge staff, and management Support other departments to ensure seamless guest service Participate in training, briefings, and continuous development Requirements: FGASA Level 2 or equivalent qualification Full trails qualification At least 25 years experience in a similar role within a game reserve or safari lodge Experience in luxury hospitality environment preferred Valid PDP (Professional Driving Permit) Valid First Aid certification Firearm competency (advantageous/required depending on reserve) Strong knowledge of fauna, flora, and ecosystems Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Physically fit and able to work in outdoor conditions
