Job Description
The purpose of the role is to establish, facilitate implementation, maintain and where necessary improve quality management for all key audit processes at firm level as well as individual audits. The Quality Manager will ensure adherence, through monitoring and oversight, to the Quality Management standards and processes in all key audit processes.
KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS
Quality Management
- Assist with the development and implementation of quality management policies and procedures in the operations of the firm to ensure compliance with the relevant auditing standards.
- Co-ordinate and implement a pro-active Quality Management review support program that actively responds to risks and ensures quality on firm audits before issuance of audit reports.
- Perform pro-active reviews on a number of high profile and significant risk engagements
- Update and maintain the QM monitoring policy and related procedures in accordance with relevant changes in International Standards on Auditing and firm policies.
- Provide comment to auditors and top management in respect of the appropriateness of implemented remedial actions and monitor adherence to corrective action plans.
- Monitoring of the pre issuance review process on audits.
- Participate in initiatives to improve the effectiveness of the pre-issuance review processes and its ability to significantly improve the firms overall quality.
- Provide ongoing and closer support to pre-issuance reviewers on consistency, risks and quality issues that need to be addressed during pre-issuance review process.
- Participate in any other pro-active strategic initiatives to drive the improvement in audit quality before the issuance of audit reports.
- Ongoing monitoring of the quality management process including post issuance reviews.
- Perform monitoring of quality management compliance in accordance with the monitoring requirements of the International Standards on Quality Control)/ International Standards of Quality Management (ISQM1) and specific requirements as determined by the firm.
- Work with the Training and Compliance manager to maintain the quality management document guide.
- The monitoring will be performed annually on two levels, namely: institutional (firm) level as well as individual audits.
- Maintain firm AFS and audit templates.
- Engage in continuous research ISA, IFRS and IFRS for SMEs to ensure compliance with all standards and remain abreast of new developments.
- Provide QM related technical advice and guidance to top management and auditors in respect of engagement performance and associated processes.
- Create training material and deliver training relating to auditing, accounting, tax, ethics, quality and risk management.
- Draft IRBA reports and correspondence.
- Perform and/or manage other projects, tasks and assignments not stipulated on the job description as and when required.
- Responsible for the completion of monitoring meetings pertaining to the selection of files for monitoring, update the cyclical plan for selection. Annual general policy statement and acceptance of responsibility for quality management.
- Conduct all processes and procedures relating to monitoring.
- Ensure that sign off of compliance registers is completed annually.
- Ensure that all staff have completed and submitted Annual Ethics and Independence Declarations.
- Develop and maintain a CaseWare FAQ document.
- Responsible for oversight of archiving and destruction of engagement files and maintenance of archiving and destruction list.
REQUIREMENTS
Qualifications and Experience
- Registered CA(SA) advantageous.
- Practical experience in Quality Management reviews will be an added advantage.
- Deep technical knowledge of IFRS, IFRS for SMEs and ISAs.
- Well versed with the IRBA and SAICA codes and regulations.
- Sound industry and business knowledge.
