An exciting opportunity exists for an experienced Business Development Specialist to drive growth within the Water, Waste Water and Infrastructure sectors across Sub-Saharan Africa.

This role is focused on identifying new business opportunities, building strategic relationships, generating project pipelines, and expanding market share within key industries. The successful candidate will engage with End Users, Consultants, EPCs, Project Houses, Municipalities, Contractors and Industrial Clients involved in water and infrastructure projects.

The position offers significant exposure to large-scale projects across South Africa and Africa and is ideally suited to a commercially driven professional with strong technical and project-sector knowledge.

Duties include:

Business Development & Market Growth

  • Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders within the Water, Waste Water and Infrastructure sectors.
  • Identify and secure new business opportunities and strategic partnerships.
  • Generate and manage a robust project pipeline across Sub-Saharan Africa.
  • Conduct market research on industry trends, competitor activity, regulations and emerging opportunities.
  • Perform regular customer visits and business development activities according to planned schedules.
  • Generate new enquiries, RFIs and RFQs and coordinate opportunities through to project award.
  • Deliver technical and commercial presentations to customers, consultants and project stakeholders.
  • Achieve agreed business development and revenue targets.

Project & Customer Management

  • Engage with consultants, contractors, project houses and end-users throughout project lifecycles.
  • Maintain strong customer relationships and ensure high service levels.
  • Support technical discussions and assist with customer enquiries where required.
  • Communicate project developments internally to maximise opportunity conversion.

Reporting & Administration

  • Develop annual business development plans and sector growth strategies.
  • Maintain accurate CRM records and project databases.
  • Prepare customer visit reports, project reports and sales forecasts.
  • Monitor and report on project opportunities and order intake performance.
  • Participate in business development, sales and project review meetings.

Minimum Requirements

  • Matric (Grade 12).
  • N6, S4 or Diploma in Electrical Engineering or a related technical qualification advantageous.
  • Proven business development experience within Water, Waste Water, Infrastructure, Industrial, Electrical, Automation or related sectors.
  • Established network of consultants, contractors, project houses, municipalities, utilities and end-users advantageous.
  • Understanding of project-based sales environments.
  • Strong commercial, negotiation and presentation skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Valid driver’s licence.
  • Valid passport and willingness to travel extensively within South Africa and Africa.
