About the Role

TORS GROUP is seeking an experienced Civil Engineer to join our team in Johannesburg. As a key member of our infrastructure development projects, you will be responsible for ensuring the successful delivery of civil engineering projects across South Africa. With a strong focus on safety, quality, and stakeholder satisfaction, we are looking for a highly skilled and motivated individual to lead our site surveys, geotechnical assessments, and feasibility studies.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct site surveys, geotechnical assessments, and feasibility studies for roads, foundations, structures, and civil infrastructure
• Prepare/review engineering drawings, BOQ, schedules, and documents in line with SANS and municipal regulations
• Supervise on-site construction, monitor contractors, and ensure compliance with design, quality, and OHSA safety standards
• Manage material procurement, inspect construction materials, and coordinate with suppliers/subcontractors
• Resolve on-site issues, conduct quality control, and implement corrective actions
• Prepare progress reports, site records, and compliance documents for clients/authorities
• Collaborate with project teams for seamless delivery across provinces
• Assist with project costing, budget tracking, and risk management

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering (accredited)
• ECSA registration highly preferred
• Valid legal work authorization in South Africa (citizen, PR, or work permit)
• Minimum 23 years of relevant experience on South African construction/infrastructure projects
• Proficient in AutoCAD, Civil 3D, SketchUp; knowledge of foundations, roadworks, drainage, SANS, and environmental compliance
• Fluent English; Afrikaans/regional languages a plus
