About the Role
A leading Printing and Labels Group based in Germiston is seeking an experienced Desktop Publishing Operator to join their team. As a key member of the design department, you will be responsible for managing print layouts, typesetting, and ensuring consistency across different print runs.
Key Responsibilities
- Handle print layouts and typesetting
- Manage quality and colour across different print runs
- Troubleshoot printing issues, equipment malfunctions, or design inconsistencies
- Set up and maintain digital printing machines, adjusting settings as necessary for different job specifications
- Monitor the quality of print runs, making adjustments as necessary to ensure high-quality output
- Keep accurate records of jobs, materials, and maintenance
- Collaborate with production team to meet deadlines and client demands
Requirements
- Diploma in printing technology DTP, graphic design, or a related field
- Experience 5 years & more hands-on experience in Flexographic printing & or operating digital printing machines
- Familiarity with ISO printing standards or colour management systems
- Strong knowledge of DTP software like Adobe InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, QuarkXPress, and CorelDRAW
- Understanding of prepress and post press processes (finishing, etc.)
- Proficiency in operating digital printing machines
- Knowledge of calibration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of digital printing equipment
