Johannesburg: Electrical Supervisor – Utility Scale PV & BESS Projects

About the Role

The Electrical Supervisor Utility Scale PV & BESS Projects will oversee all electrical construction and installation activities associated with utility-scale PV plants and BESS facilities, ensuring safe, on-schedule, and budget-compliant execution of electrical works in compliance with project specifications, grid code requirements, and applicable standards. This role is part of a company involved in utility-scale PV plants and BESS facilities, utilizing an Owners Engineer team to ensure EPC contractor compliance throughout the project lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate 68 years experience in utility-scale PV and BESS projects.
  • Supervise all electrical construction and installation activities including cable installation, termination, testing, and earthing.
  • Monitor installation of inverters, transformers, switchgear, SCADA, and BESS electrical systems.
  • Conduct inspections and verify QA/QC compliance for approved engineering documentation.
  • Oversee subcontractors, electrical teams, and site activities to monitor project progress and report risks.
  • Support energisation planning and commissioning readiness activities.
  • Review technical submissions, method statements, and inspection records.
  • Ensure adherence to HSE and electrical safety requirements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree or BTech in Electrical Engineering.
  • Registered or eligible for registration with the Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA).
  • 68 years experience in utility-scale PV and BESS projects.
  • Proven experience in Owners Engineer environments.
  • Strong knowledge of MV and LV electrical systems, substations, inverters, transformers, and SCADA.
  • Familiarity with grid connection and commissioning activities.
  • Knowledge of South African electrical regulations and safety standards.
