About the Role
The Electrical Supervisor Utility Scale PV & BESS Projects will oversee all electrical construction and installation activities associated with utility-scale PV plants and BESS facilities, ensuring safe, on-schedule, and budget-compliant execution of electrical works in compliance with project specifications, grid code requirements, and applicable standards. This role is part of a company involved in utility-scale PV plants and BESS facilities, utilizing an Owners Engineer team to ensure EPC contractor compliance throughout the project lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
- Demonstrate 68 years experience in utility-scale PV and BESS projects.
- Supervise all electrical construction and installation activities including cable installation, termination, testing, and earthing.
- Monitor installation of inverters, transformers, switchgear, SCADA, and BESS electrical systems.
- Conduct inspections and verify QA/QC compliance for approved engineering documentation.
- Oversee subcontractors, electrical teams, and site activities to monitor project progress and report risks.
- Support energisation planning and commissioning readiness activities.
- Review technical submissions, method statements, and inspection records.
- Ensure adherence to HSE and electrical safety requirements.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree or BTech in Electrical Engineering.
- Registered or eligible for registration with the Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA).
- 68 years experience in utility-scale PV and BESS projects.
- Proven experience in Owners Engineer environments.
- Strong knowledge of MV and LV electrical systems, substations, inverters, transformers, and SCADA.
- Familiarity with grid connection and commissioning activities.
- Knowledge of South African electrical regulations and safety standards.
