Johannesburg: Field Service Technician JHB Region

Company Overview: Our client is a reputable specialist in the maintenance and servicing of electrical forklifts, providing reliable and efficient material handling solutions to clients across multiple industries. Role Purpose: To perform maintenance, repairs, and fault-finding on forklifts (with a strong focus on electrical units), ensuring optimal performance and minimal downtime for clients across various sites. Minimum Requirements: Trade Tested Artisan (one of the following): Mechanical Fitter Diesel Mechanic Millwright Auto Electrician Valid Code B drivers license (essential) Must be South African Own reliable transport (essential) Must reside in the East Rand Willing and able to travel extensively to client sites in Gauteng and surrounding areas Experience & Exposure: Entry-level candidates welcome (post-trade experience advantageous) Experience working on any of the following will be considered: Forklifts (advantageous, especially electric forklifts) Yellow / mining equipment Lifting equipment / material handling equipment Basic understanding of electrical systems and fault-finding (highly advantageous) Key Responsibilities: Conduct routine servicing and preventative maintenance on forklifts Diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical faults Perform breakdown repairs on-site and in the workshop Inspect equipment to ensure compliance with safety standards Complete job cards, service reports, and documentation accurately Provide technical support and feedback to clients Maintain tools and equipment in good working condition Key Competencies: Strong problem-solving and fault-finding ability Good mechanical and/or electrical aptitude Ability to work independently in a field service environment Good communication and customer service skills High level of reliability and accountability Physically fit and able to work in demanding environments Working Conditions: Field-based role with frequent travel Exposure to industrial, warehouse, and mining environments Occasional overtime and standby may be required Additional Information: Training will be provided on electrical forklift systems Opportunity for growth and technical development within a specialized field
