About the Role
The Head of Finance â Mining & Heavy Equipment will be responsible for leading and developing a multi-disciplinary finance team, providing strategic financial insight to support operational decision-making and growth initiatives. This role requires strong industry background in mining, mining equipment, construction, engineering or manufacturing, with proven experience operating in operational, asset-heavy environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Full ownership of the site and regional finance function, including financial reporting, controls and compliance
- Leading and developing a multi-disciplinary finance team across accounting, reporting and operational finance
- Monthly, quarterly and annual financial reporting in line with IFRS and US GAAP group requirements
- Budgeting, forecasting, rolling forecasts and variance analysis across operational cost centres
- Cash flow management, working capital optimisation and capital expenditure oversight
- Job costing, cost allocation, margin analysis and operational performance reporting
- Providing strategic financial insight to support operational decision-making and growth initiatives
- Partnering with operations, supply chain and commercial teams to drive financial performance
- Acting as the primary finance liaison with US corporate head office, including group reporting and governance
- Managing internal controls, audit processes and statutory compliance requirements
- Supporting strategic initiatives, business expansion, investment decisions and continuous improvement projects
Requirements
- Proven experience in a senior finance leadership role (title flexible)
- Strong industry background in mining, mining equipment, construction, engineering or manufacturing
- Demonstrated experience operating in operational, asset-heavy environments
- Exposure to international group reporting, preferably within a US-headquartered organisation
- Ability to operate at both strategic and detailed execution level
- Strong commercial acumen with a collaborative leadership style
Qualifications
CA(SA) or CIMA/CGMA qualification must come from industry.
