About the Role
The Mechanical Design Engineer will play a crucial role in designing and developing innovative automotive products, components, and assemblies for our esteemed client in Johannesburg. As a key member of the design team, you will be responsible for creating detailed 3D CAD models and manufacturing drawings, participating in concept development, prototyping, and validation testing, and ensuring that designs comply with automotive standards and customer requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop automotive products, components, and assemblies
- Create detailed 3D CAD models and manufacturing drawings
- Participate in concept development, prototyping, and validation testing
- Conduct engineering calculations, tolerance analysis, and design reviews
- Work closely with manufacturing, tooling, quality, and project teams
- Ensure designs comply with automotive standards and customer requirements
- Support continuous improvement and cost optimisation initiatives
- Prepare technical documentation and reports
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree / BEng / BSc in Mechanical Engineering
- Strong academic record or demonstrated industry success
- 28 years experience in mechanical design engineering preferred
- Experience in automotive or related manufacturing environments advantageous
