Purpose of the Role: At Dis-Chem Life, we are committed to paying our people accurately and on time. The Payroll Administrator exists to support the Payroll Manager in delivering this promise, ensuring payroll runs smoothly, accurately, and on schedule. This role requires precision, organisation, and reliability. You will assist in maintaining payroll records, processing data, resolving queries, and supporting audits, ensuring the Payroll Manager has the information and operational support needed to deliver flawless payroll execution. While operational in nature, this role is key to sustaining payroll excellence across Dis-Chem Life. Role Summary As a Payroll Administrator, you will work closely with the Payroll Manager to ensure all payroll processes are executed accurately and on time. You will assist with capturing payroll data, validating employee information, managing routine queries, and preparing reports. You will act as a reliable operational support, helping to maintain data integrity, support compliance with statutory requirements, and ensure payroll runs seamlessly each cycle. This role is ideal for someone who thrives on accuracy, organisation, and teamwork, and who wants to build strong payroll expertise while supporting the broader Payroll function. Benefits: Competitive salary Supportive, collaborative team environment Opportunity to develop payroll expertise Exposure to advanced payroll systems and processes Key Responsibilities Assist with payroll processing, including new hires, terminations, salary adjustments, and benefits Maintain accurate payroll records and update payroll systems as required Support bulk data uploads and validation Respond to payroll-related employee queries professionally and efficiently Assist with payroll audits to ensure data integrity and resolve discrepancies Generate routine payroll reports to support Finance and HR teams Ensure compliance with South African labour laws, payroll regulations, and company policies Collaborate with HR and Finance to maintain seamless payroll operations Technical Skills: Proficiency in payroll software and Microsoft Excel Ability to manage large datasets with accuracy Understanding of payroll compliance and statutory requirements Problem-solving and troubleshooting in payroll systems Soft Skills: Strong attention to detail and accuracy Excellent organisational and administrative abilities Effective communication skills with employees and internal teams Ability to work proactively, independently, and collaboratively Professionalism and discretion in handling sensitive payroll information Skills and Experience: 1–2 year’s experience in payroll administration Experience with payroll systems such as Sage 300 or similar Knowledge of payroll compliance, statutory deductions, and reporting Experience handling employee payroll queries Qualifications: Matric / National Senior Certificate (essential) Certificate or diploma in Payroll, Accounting, or related field (preferred) 1–2 years’ payroll administration experience Knowledge of South African payroll legislation, compliance, and tax laws

Job Description

Company and Job Description: An exciting opportunity exists for an experienced Payroll Administrator to join a dynamic Shared Services team based in Springs. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the accurate, efficient, and compliant processing of payroll , ensuring employees are paid correctly, on time, and in line with company policies and SARS legislation. Key Responsibilities: Administer and process large-volume payrolls efficiently and accurately. Validate, check, and reconcile all payroll and leave inputs prior to finalisation. Oversee payroll controls, variance checks, and interim payments. Provide guidance to Payroll Clerks and business units on new payroll processes and forms. Manage and validate terminations, resignations, and final pay-outs. Handle and resolve second-line payroll enquiries within SLA timeframes. Maintain payroll filing systems and manage payslip distribution. Perform month-end reconciliations and compile detailed payroll reports for business units. Ensure compliance with all statutory requirements including PAYE, UIF, SDL, and BCEA. Recommend and test process improvements and system updates in collaboration with ICT. Participate in payroll-related projects and initiatives. Deliver exceptional internal customer service and maintain strong working relationships. Job Experience and Skills Required: Matric Certificate with Maths and Accounting (Maths Literacy not sufficient). At least 8 years experience in Payroll Administration. Strong Excel and Microsoft Office skills. Experience managing payrolls with 1,500 employees. Experience with JDE and Educos Payroll Systems. Apply now!

Job Description

My client is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Payroll Administrator to join their team. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing payroll processes and ensuring accuracy, compliance, and efficiency in payroll administration. If you have strong analytical skills, a keen eye for detail, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment, then we encourage you to apply. This role is based in Springs, Johannesburg East. Key Responsibilities: Administer payroll information and ensure accurate payroll processing. Validate, check, and capture payroll and leave input. Compile and review payroll variances and other relevant controls before payroll finalization. Guide Payroll Clerks and business units on new payroll processes and forms. Validate dismissals/resignations and verify final pay-outs. Resolve second-line payroll-related queries within agreed service levels. Review and approve interim payments. Oversee payroll filing and ensure proper documentation. Manage the printing and distribution of payslips on a weekly/monthly basis. Organise and implement payroll processes to ensure smooth and timely payroll runs. Reconcile payroll data with third-party vendors and resolve discrepancies within 30 days. Compile and distribute month-end reports to business units. Manage month-end processes, including preparation and reconciliations. Recommend improvements and implement changes in payroll processes and systems. Test cost components and legislative changes affecting payroll. Report system issues to the IT department and ensure the resolution thereof. Participate in and contribute to payroll-related projects and initiatives. Provide payroll-related information to management, customers, and other stakeholders as needed. Ensure compliance with company policies, the delegation of authority, and statutory legislation. Perform ad hoc duties as required within the scope of the role. Job Experience and Skills Required: Diploma in Finance or Payroll-related. 5 years proven experience in payroll administration, with a headcount of 1 000 employees. Must come from a Shared Services environment. Strong knowledge of payroll processes, legislation, and compliance requirements. Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in payroll processing. Strong problem-solving skills and ability to resolve payroll queries effectively. Ability to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines. Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
