About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Payroll Administrator to join our team in Johannesburg. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring accurate and timely payroll processing, as well as maintaining employee records and providing excellent customer service.

Key Responsibilities

  • Capture, verify, and process payroll data accurately and within required deadlines
  • Maintain employee payroll records, including earnings, deductions, and changes
  • Assist with monthly payroll runs and year-end processes as required
  • Medical aid and provident fund administration
  • Time, Attendance & Leave Reconciliation: Check and reconcile leave records against actual clocking data and attendance reports
  • Liaise with relevant parties to resolve variances before payroll cutoff
  • Ensure leave balances are accurately updated and maintained on the payroll system
  • Compliance & Accuracy: Ensure payroll processes comply with relevant labour legislation, BCEA requirements, and internal policies
  • Support payroll audits by providing accurate records and reconciliations
  • Identify and flag payroll risks, errors, or inconsistencies proactively
  • Document Management: Scan, file, and maintain all payroll-related documentation
  • Maintain organised electronic filing systems for easy retrieval

Requirements

  • Matric Diploma or higher certificate in Payroll Administration
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a payroll administrative or coordination role
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English
  • Ability to confidentially handle sensitive employee data
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively
  • High attention to detail and accuracy in handling documents and records
  • Collaborative team player with strong interpersonal skills
  • Flexible and adaptable, with the ability to respond well to changing demands
  • Basic financial understanding
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel) and comfortable working with ERP systems

About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Payroll Administrator to join our team in Johannesburg. As a key member of our payroll department, you will be responsible for processing weekly wages and monthly salaries across four companies, ensuring compliance with payroll legislation and statutory submissions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Process weekly wages for approximately 150 staff members
  • Calculate payable hours, commissions, bonuses, tax withholdings, and deductions
  • Manage electronic timekeeping systems and review timesheets
  • Download wage and monthly payroll reports
  • Handle Provident Fund reconciliations and payments
  • Process Sanlam Group Life GRNs and payments
  • Load garnishees on banking platforms and confirm payments
  • Submit PAYE returns and load POPs
  • Prepare Excel sales reports (Actual vs Budget) and distribute to Managers
  • Calculate sales commissions and communicate to Sales staff
  • Submit SSC returns and POPs for Namibia (Stier Vente)
  • Complete VET Levy returns (NTA Namibia)
  • Submit ITAS PAYE returns and upload payments (Botswana)
  • Receive, verify, and process branch incentives
  • Load new employees and process terminations
  • Manage Sanlam onboarding and offboarding of staff
  • Prepare and process salary payments
  • Send salary breakdowns to Debtors once payroll is completed

Requirements

  • Degree in Business Administration, HR, Finance, or Accounting (essential)
  • Strong working knowledge of Payspace payroll software
  • Excellent Excel skills including Pivot Tables and VLOOKUPS
  • Solid understanding of payroll legislation and statutory submissions
