Purpose of the Role: At Dis-Chem Life, we are committed to paying our people accurately and on time. The Payroll Administrator exists to support the Payroll Manager in delivering this promise, ensuring payroll runs smoothly, accurately, and on schedule. This role requires precision, organisation, and reliability. You will assist in maintaining payroll records, processing data, resolving queries, and supporting audits, ensuring the Payroll Manager has the information and operational support needed to deliver flawless payroll execution. While operational in nature, this role is key to sustaining payroll excellence across Dis-Chem Life. Role Summary As a Payroll Administrator, you will work closely with the Payroll Manager to ensure all payroll processes are executed accurately and on time. You will assist with capturing payroll data, validating employee information, managing routine queries, and preparing reports. You will act as a reliable operational support, helping to maintain data integrity, support compliance with statutory requirements, and ensure payroll runs seamlessly each cycle. This role is ideal for someone who thrives on accuracy, organisation, and teamwork, and who wants to build strong payroll expertise while supporting the broader Payroll function. Benefits: Competitive salary Supportive, collaborative team environment Opportunity to develop payroll expertise Exposure to advanced payroll systems and processes Key Responsibilities Assist with payroll processing, including new hires, terminations, salary adjustments, and benefits Maintain accurate payroll records and update payroll systems as required Support bulk data uploads and validation Respond to payroll-related employee queries professionally and efficiently Assist with payroll audits to ensure data integrity and resolve discrepancies Generate routine payroll reports to support Finance and HR teams Ensure compliance with South African labour laws, payroll regulations, and company policies Collaborate with HR and Finance to maintain seamless payroll operations Technical Skills: Proficiency in payroll software and Microsoft Excel Ability to manage large datasets with accuracy Understanding of payroll compliance and statutory requirements Problem-solving and troubleshooting in payroll systems Soft Skills: Strong attention to detail and accuracy Excellent organisational and administrative abilities Effective communication skills with employees and internal teams Ability to work proactively, independently, and collaboratively Professionalism and discretion in handling sensitive payroll information Skills and Experience: 1–2 year’s experience in payroll administration Experience with payroll systems such as Sage 300 or similar Knowledge of payroll compliance, statutory deductions, and reporting Experience handling employee payroll queries Qualifications: Matric / National Senior Certificate (essential) Certificate or diploma in Payroll, Accounting, or related field (preferred) 1–2 years’ payroll administration experience Knowledge of South African payroll legislation, compliance, and tax laws

Job Description

This role is ideal for a payroll professional who is highly organized, confident in statutory compliance, and comfortable handling complex payroll administration while delivering accurate, timeous results. Key Responsibilities: Manage the full payroll function for monthly salary processing. Apply for tax directives and ensure compliance with SARS requirements. Complete statutory returns including PAYE, UIF, and SDL. Perform IRP501 reconciliations and year-end submissions via EasyFile. Handle employee payroll queries with professionalism and accuracy. Administer garnishees and maintenance orders. Manage medical aid, provident fund, funeral fund, and other benefit administration. Ensure accurate and timeous capturing of employee data (engagements, terminations, transfers, promotions). Reconcile third-party payments including medical aid, provident funds, and industry bodies. Maintain strong internal controls and ensure client satisfaction through accurate payroll delivery. Job Experience and Skills Required: Diploma in Accounting, HR, or a relevant qualification (essential). Minimum 3 years payroll processing experience. Sage VIP People certification (essential). Strong knowledge of labour legislation, BCEA, and SARS PAYE regulations. Solid Microsoft Office proficiency. Excellent attention to detail with strong numeracy skills. Highly organized with strong time management and prioritization ability. Confident communicator with good interpersonal skills. Apply now!
