About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled Property Management Accountant to join our team in Johannesburg. As a key member of our financial management team, you will play a pivotal role in delivering high-quality financial management across our diverse portfolio of commercial properties. You will work closely with property managers, leasing, facilities, and finance teams to ensure accurate reporting and efficient operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and present monthly budget variance reports for management and client meetings
- Compile and distribute comprehensive monthly management packs, including arrears and supplier reports
- Ensure accuracy and integrity of accounting data within the property management system
- Oversee annual budgeting processes, ensuring accurate forecasting and landlord approval
- Support tenant, landlord, and contractor financial queries and collections processes
- Monitor lease accuracy, billing terms, escalations, and conduct periodic audits
- Manage recoveries, including utilities and municipal charges, ensuring compliance and accuracy
- Oversee accounts payable, ensuring timely and accurate invoice processing and payments
- Act as a key accounting liaison for landlords and support broader property management activities
Requirements
- Qualification in Accounting or a related field
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in property management accounting
- Strong experience in commercial property accounting including leases, recoveries, and tenant billing
- Proven experience in budgeting, management accounts, and variance analysis
- Proficiency in property management systems (e.g., MDA) and advanced Excel skills
