About the Role
A dynamic and growing company based in Johannesburg East is seeking a Senior Accountant to lead, review, and oversee a small finance team within a youthful, fast-paced commercial environment. Reporting directly to the CFO, you will be responsible for overseeing day-to-day accounting operations, reviewing the work of junior accountants, ensuring accurate financial reporting, and providing guidance and leadership within the finance function.
Key Responsibilities
- Review and sign off on monthly accounting outputs, including cashbooks, journals, reconciliations, and management packs
- Lead, mentor, and review the work of junior accounting staff
- Oversee customer invoicing, debtors, and credit control processes
- Manage supplier/creditor accounting and ensure accurate payments and reconciliations
- Ensure accurate bank reconciliations and balance sheet integrity
- Prepare and review sales statistics and support management reporting
- Assist with month-end, year-end, and audit preparation
- Drive process improvements and ensure adherence to accounting controls
- Provide technical guidance and support to the MF and wider business
Requirements
- Mandatory: Completed SAICA or SAIPA articles
- Experience: Minimum 3/5 years’ post-articles experience in an accounting role
- Proven experience reviewing work and supervising junior staff
- Strong exposure to operational and commercial accounting environments
Qualifications
- Completed BCom / BCompt Accounting degree
