About the Role

Reporting to the Senior Systems Administrator, youll manage core IT infrastructure across LAN, WAN, VPN, and cloud systems, while optimising performance and ensuring security compliance. The role involves end-to-end responsibility for both physical and virtual servers, monitoring tools, and telephony environments. It also includes preventative maintenance, root cause analysis, and supporting a complex hybrid network across the business.

Key Responsibilities

• Administer, monitor, and maintain network infrastructure (LAN, WAN, VPN, wireless, firewalls)

• Install, configure, and optimise physical and virtual servers (Windows, Linux, VMware, Hyper-V)

• Support telephony infrastructure and proactively manage system alerts and uptime

• Lead troubleshooting for network and server issues (both on-site and remotely)

• Enforce patch management, backups, and preventative maintenance procedures

• Secure environments through policy creation and monitoring tools (e.g., Nagios, SolarWinds)

• Oversee budget controls and software licence administration

• Collaborate on defining network performance and security protocols

• Stay current with emerging technologies and implement industry best practices

What Youll Bring

• 3+ years of experience in infrastructure maintenance

• Proven expertise in network administration (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, firewalls)

• Microsoft Azure experience and strong SQL backup knowledge

• Proficiency in Windows Server, Linux/Unix, and virtualisation technologies

• Familiarity with monitoring tools (e.g., Zabbix, SolarWinds, Nagios)

• Strong scripting experience (PowerShell, Bash, or Python)

• Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills

• Ability to work independently and participate in an on-call rotation

Nice to Have

• BSc in Computer Science or a related field

• Microsoft, Security+, or Cisco certifications (Azure Admin, CCNA, etc.)

• Experience with ManageEngine tools

• Exposure to cloud platforms (AWS, Google Cloud)

• Experience developing security and performance policies
