About the Role
Network Contracting is seeking an experienced Maintenance Foreman to lead our maintenance team in Johannesburg West. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for ensuring the efficient maintenance and repair of our equipment, while also mentoring and supervising technicians. Key Responsibilities
- Direct and mentor maintenance technicians; assign daily tasks, coach apprentices, and oversee performance to ensure goals are met
- Oversee both preventive and corrective maintenance on mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, refrigeration, and automated systems; respond to breakdowns and ensure minimal downtime
- Coordinate with managers and planners to prioritize work orders, schedule shutdowns, and manage resources effectively
- Enforce safe work practices, ensure adherence to GMP, HACCP, FDA, OSHA, and food safety standards; conduct inspections and safety briefings
- Monitor spare parts usage, control overtime, liaise with suppliers, and support budget planning and cost control
- Lead root-cause analysis, support CAPEX and upgrades, maintain 5S/TPM initiatives, and drive improvements in OEE/MTBF/MTTR metrics
- Ensure all maintenance logs, job cards, CMMS updates, and compliance documentation are current and accurate
Requirements
- Artisan experience: 5–10 years in a production environment (preferably food manufacturing)
- Supervisory: 2–5 years leading maintenance teams or shifts
- Proficient with mechanical systems, refrigeration, hydraulics/pneumatics, PLCs, VFDs, automated packaging — SCADA familiarity
- Capable of reading schematics, P&IDs, maintenance manuals
- Competent with CMMS (SAP PM, Maximo, Syspro, Shopware) and MS Office for reporting
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent; trade certification (Millwright, Fitter, Electrician—Red Seal preferred); technical diploma advantageous
