Job Description
A well-established and leading mining company operating a large-scale iron ore mining operation in the Northern Cape, is currently seeking a Buyer to join their procurement team.
This role is responsible for ensuring the timely procurement of goods and services at competitive prices while maintaining required quality standards and delivery schedules. The successful candidate will work closely with internal stakeholders and suppliers to support operational requirements and contribute to efficient supply chain performance.
Responsibilities
- Execute day-to-day purchasing activities in accordance with company policies and procedures.
- Source, evaluate, and procure goods and services at optimal cost, quality, and delivery timelines.
- Maintain effective supplier relationships and facilitate ongoing communication with vendors.
- Obtain quotations, negotiate pricing, and evaluate supplier performance.
- Process purchase orders and monitor order fulfilment to ensure timely delivery.
- Ensure compliance with purchasing procedures, contract management processes, and company policies.
- Maintain accurate procurement records and documentation.
- Support cost-saving initiatives and identify opportunities to improve procurement processes.
- Adhere to all SHERQ (Safety, Health, Environment, Risk, and Quality) requirements and standards.
- Collaborate effectively with internal departments to meet operational procurement needs.
- Demonstrate high ethical standards, professionalism, and accountability in all procurement activities.
Requirements
Qualifications
- Grade 12 (Matric).
- Certificate or Diploma in Purchasing Management, Supply Chain Management, or an equivalent qualification.
Experience
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in an operational Buyer, Supply Chain, or Finance environment.
- Experience within a mining environment will be advantageous.
- Proven experience in procurement operations and supplier management.
Other Requirements
- Medically fit and able to meet required medical fitness standards.
- Valid Code EB driver’s license.
