About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Site Manager to join our team at Gamsberg Mine. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing 24/7 shift-based operations, ensuring compliance with safety standards and regulations, and leading a team of ±20 employees. This is an excellent opportunity for a seasoned mining professional to take on a challenging role that requires strong technical knowledge, leadership skills, and excellent communication abilities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure compliance with safety standards and regulations
  • Manage 24/7 shift-based operations and ensure service delivery
  • Lead and manage a team of ±20 employees’ performance through regularly monitoring and providing required training, coaching, support, and feedback
  • Ensure alignment with established procedures and recommend improvement
  • Control inventory, issuing, and stock accuracy
  • Analyse discarded or prematurely failed tools to determine root causes (e.g., operator error, incorrect tool selection, or geological conditions)
  • Monitor and optimise Cost per Meter (CPM)
  • Maintain strong client relationships and handle escalations
  • Provide technical support on drilling and tool selection
  • Ensure timeous weekly and monthly reporting
  • Ensure adequate staff placement, i.e., manage/approve applicable leave for subordinate employees and implementation of HR management processes

Requirements

  • Matric / Senior Certificate
  • Tertiary education is highly advantageous
  • 10+ years of mining experience
  • Non-Negotiable Requirements – Working knowledge and experience in drilling DTH systems with an understanding of drilling / rock tools / consumables
  • Experience managing teams of 15+ personnel
  • Strong understanding of DTH drilling
  • Knowledge of cost control and inventory management
  • Effective communications in writing and verbal reporting
  • Proven track record of managing large-scale contracts, SLA’s and commercial disputes
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
