About the Role

A luxury safari lodge in KwaZulu-Natal is seeking a dynamic and hands-on Assistant Lodge Manager to join their small 5-star hospitality team. This role is ideal for a passionate hospitality professional looking to gain valuable operational experience across all areas of lodge management while delivering exceptional guest experiences in a luxury bush environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Host guests throughout their stay, including check-ins and check-outs
  • Communicate guest preferences and special requirements to the team
  • Serve meals and drinks and assist with guest activities and game drives
  • Liaise with reservations and ensure seamless guest experiences
  • Manage daily stock control and ordering
  • Prepare guest documentation and invoicing
  • Maintain and update reservation systems accurately
  • Support lodge administration and reporting functions
  • Conduct room and camp checks daily
  • Identify and report maintenance issues
  • Ensure lodge presentation and aesthetics meet 5-star standards
  • Host morning meetings and manage staff schedules
  • Train team members on SOPs and guest service standards
  • Assist with staff discipline and HR-related processes
  • Support the management of housekeeping, bar, and guest service procedures

Requirements

  • Hospitality qualification (preferred)
  • Minimum 2 years entry-level management experience (ideally in a 5-star environment)
  • Strong guest relations and hosting ability
  • Excellent administration and organisational skills
  • Fluent English essential
  • Mature, hands-on, and confident leadership style
  • Previous safari lodge experience advantageous
  • Preference for candidates with ties to KwaZulu-Natal
