About the Role
A luxury safari lodge in KwaZulu-Natal is seeking a dynamic and hands-on Assistant Lodge Manager to join their small 5-star hospitality team. This role is ideal for a passionate hospitality professional looking to gain valuable operational experience across all areas of lodge management while delivering exceptional guest experiences in a luxury bush environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Host guests throughout their stay, including check-ins and check-outs
- Communicate guest preferences and special requirements to the team
- Serve meals and drinks and assist with guest activities and game drives
- Liaise with reservations and ensure seamless guest experiences
- Manage daily stock control and ordering
- Prepare guest documentation and invoicing
- Maintain and update reservation systems accurately
- Support lodge administration and reporting functions
- Conduct room and camp checks daily
- Identify and report maintenance issues
- Ensure lodge presentation and aesthetics meet 5-star standards
- Host morning meetings and manage staff schedules
- Train team members on SOPs and guest service standards
- Assist with staff discipline and HR-related processes
- Support the management of housekeeping, bar, and guest service procedures
Requirements
- Hospitality qualification (preferred)
- Minimum 2 years entry-level management experience (ideally in a 5-star environment)
- Strong guest relations and hosting ability
- Excellent administration and organisational skills
- Fluent English essential
- Mature, hands-on, and confident leadership style
- Previous safari lodge experience advantageous
- Preference for candidates with ties to KwaZulu-Natal

Salary & Benefits
