About the Role
Join our team at Dwarsrivier Chrome Mine, a values-driven company that prioritizes its people’s well-being. As a Maintenance Chargehand (C3) on our North Shaft, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of our world-class chrome ore production facility.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in ensuring trackless mobile machinery availability and reliability through application of maintenance management/ breakdown occurrence systems and resources to achieve production targets.
- Assist in planning, executing and managing the section in line with the department/ functional requirements in order to meet business objectives.
- Manage an effective safety, health, environment, and quality management system to ensure the mine meets legal requirements and continuously strives to improve its inherent risk profile.
- Ensure effective and preventative maintenance management of mine and infrastructure machines, systems and equipment to limit and optimize production processes.
- Ensure timeous and effective breakdown repairs in order to ensure availability of equipment using the correct resources.
- Achieve maintenance targets through optimum output.
- Ensure operational efficiency and quality.
- Assume responsibility for coordinating subordinates to limit equipment failure by providing hands-on technical oversight.
- Drive improvement projects toward enhancing the operations.
- Identify deviations /deficiencies in a proactive manner.
- Make recommendations in respect of appropriate principles / methodology to be followed.
- Monitor tasks delegated to subordinates to ensure Department effectiveness and targets are met.
- Compile and distribute daily reports and documentation.
- Perform mini and issue-based risk assessment and lock-outs procedure as and when required.
Requirements
- Grade 12 / Standard 10 Maths / Maths literacy
- Relevant Trade Test Certificate N3 Certificate: Engineering Studies
- Code 08 (B) Drivers Licence
Qualifications
- Supervisory Certificate (advantageous)
