About the Role
As an External Sales Executive, you will be responsible for conducting surveys of household contents at residences to provide accurate estimates for moves/shipments. You will capture survey details on the RedSky survey application and estimate carton count/volume, as well as furniture volume. This role requires excellent communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently.
Key Responsibilities
- Surveying of household contents at residence to provide accurate estimates for moves/shipments
- Capturing all survey details onto the RedSky survey application during the survey
- Estimation of carton count/volume, as well as furniture volume
- Identifying and measuring of any fragile items that require crating
- Providing accurate guidance in residence on how items are wrapped, based on move type and distance
- Explanation to the client that the quotation will be based on the surveyed inventory listing at residence, and any additions or omissions after the survey could result in an amended quotation, or a re-survey
- Presentation of relevant country information and FIDI regulations for export shipments
- Discussing timelines and mode of transport with client
- Discussing insurance requirements with client and explaining various insurance options on each move type
- Making sure that what was discussed during the survey is recaped with the client in residence for further understanding before leaving the residence
- Accurately costing each move according to surveyed volume, packing requirements, and move type
- Obtaining destination service rates from international partners and any rates for pets or vehicles from preferred suppliers
- Sending all costings to be checked by National Sales Manager for approval
- Making sure that all domestic quotations are sent within 24 hours and all international quotations are sent within 48 hours
- Phoning client, advising them that quotation has been sent, and offering to verbally go through the quotation with them for clarification of any possible uncertainties
- Doing regular follow-ups on all pending moves, making notes of discussions and moving dates as necessary, or moving pending work to lost if necessary
- Hand delivering quotations (where possible), and when in area, in addition to sending them electronically
- Booking and securing of dates with operations for all accepted work
- Providing a timeous handover to internal sales executive for any booked work, advising of any documents received, or still outstanding prior to the move commencing
- Assisting internal sales executive in receiving any outstanding documentation
- Contacting customers during the move process and courtesy call visits (where possible) during the move
Requirements
- Matric (Grade 12) minimum
- Minimum of 3 to 5 years sales experience (preferably within logistics industry)
- Computer literacy (MS word/Excel/Outlook)
- Strong admin skills
- Ability to listen to customer requirements and create solutions
- Ability to work extended hours, as and when required
- Possession of a valid code 8 drivers licence and own vehicle
