Senior Deal Maker Regional & Small Business Finance

A leading development finance institution is seeking a highly experienced Senior Deal Maker to lead complex transaction assessments, structure strategic funding solutions and drive regional investment growth aligned to industry development objectives.
This role requires a commercially astute professional with strong financial depth, transaction leadership capability and the ability to manage complex, high-value deals from origination through to first drawdown.
Key Responsibilities
Transaction Leadership & Structuring

Evaluate and structure complex transactions using appropriate financing instruments
-
Lead multidisciplinary due diligence teams across financial, technical and marketing disciplines

Ensure financial soundness of all credit submissions
-
Identify, assess and mitigate transaction risks (legal, operational, financial and market-related)
-
Negotiate funding structures and legal/commercial terms
Strategic & Operational Contribution

Align transactions to SBU strategic and industry development objectives
-
Support implementation of strategic initiatives within the region

Conduct peer reviews across due diligence disciplines
-
Prepare high-quality, committee-ready credit papers and reports
-
Manage approved transactions through to first drawdown
Business Development & Pipeline Growth

Build and maintain a strong deal pipeline
-
Proactively drive new business growth aligned to SBU strategy
-
Lead regional outreach initiatives including stakeholder engagement, presentations and market development activities
Leadership & Mentorship
-
Provide transaction leadership during due diligence processes
-
Train, mentor and coach Business Analysts and Deal Makers
-
Provide technical guidance on complex enquiries and applications
-
Drive knowledge sharing within the team
Minimum Requirements
-
Relevant Commercial or Technical Honours Degree
- CA(SA) qualification
-
810 years related experience
-
At least 8 years in deal assessment and closing of transactions
-
Experience managing approved deals through to first drawdown
-
Competent in all three due diligence disciplines (Financial, Technical and Marketing)

Proven leadership on complex/high-value transactions
-
Strong financial statement analysis and modelling capability

Experience conducting peer reviews
-
Knowledge of financing instruments and structured funding solutions
