About the Role
We are seeking a skilled By-Products Trader to join our team in Pietermaritzburg, Natal Midlands, specializing in the supply of agricultural commodities and raw inputs to and from Southern Africa. The ideal candidate will be a commodity dealmaker, supply chain coordinator, and market strategist with experience in supplying high-quality energy, protein, and fiber feed components to poultry, swine, and cattle operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Sourcing and procurement of by-products such as Maize Bran, Wheat Bran, Maize Germ Meal, Soya Hulls, Cottonseed Meal, Soya Bean Meal, and Sunflower Oilcake from farmers and processors.
- Negotiating pricing based on supply and demand, harvest outlook, and exchange rates.
- Selling to feed manufacturers, poultry and feedlot operators, and large farming groups.
- Building long-term supply contracts.
- Arranging transport (road/rail) and storage (silos, warehouses).
- Managing cross-border shipments to the SADC region.
- Identifying supply gaps in neighboring countries and developing new customers in Zambia, Botswana, Namibia, Mozambique, and Zimbabwe.
Requirements
- Two to Five years of experience in agri trading of beans (Soybeans/Soybean Oilcake) in the SADC region.
- Strong knowledge of agricultural commodities, market trends, and supply chain management.
- Excellent negotiation and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
