Key Responsibilities / Duties

• Prepare accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
• Manage the general ledger, journal entries, and reconciliations.
• Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, and cash flow management.
• Assist in budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.
• Ensure compliance with IFRS, taxation, and internal policies.
• Prepare management accounts and financial reports for senior management.
• Support internal and external audits by providing required documentation.
• Monitor operational costs, transport expenses, and financial performance.
• Identify opportunities for process improvements and cost efficiencies.
• Collaborate with other departments to support financial planning and decision-making.

 
Qualifications & Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or related field (BCom Accounting/Finance).
• Minimum 3–5 years’ experience in accounting, preferably in logistics, transport, or supply chain industries.
• Strong knowledge of financial reporting standards, tax compliance, and cost accounting.
• Proficiency in accounting software and MS Excel.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines.
• Good communication and teamwork skills.

The Financial Accountant will be responsible for accurate financial reporting, project and contract accounting, and ensuring compliance with statutory and internal reporting requirements. The role provides strong exposure to construction finance, commercial decision-making, and senior finance leadership.

Key Responsibilities:

• Preparation of monthly management accounts and financial reports
• Project and contract accounting, including WIP, revenue recognition, and cost tracking
• Balance sheet reconciliations and resolution of variances
• Fixed asset management and capital expenditure tracking
• VAT returns and tax compliance
• Support internal and external audit processes
• Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management

Job Experience and Skills Required:

Education:

• Completed BCom degree (Accounting or Finance)
• Completed SAICA Articles

Experience:

• 2–4 years’ post-articles experience within the construction sector
• Exposure to project-based or contract accounting essential
• Experience with audits and statutory reporting

Skills:

• Strong Excel skills
• Experience working on accounting or ERP systems (construction modules advantageous)

Other non-negotiables:

• Strong attention to detail and accuracy
• Ability to work in a deadline-driven, project environment
• Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills
