Job Description

A leading engineering firm is seeking an experienced Resident Engineer with a strong background in dam construction to join their team in Pretoria.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the construction and rehabilitation of dams, ensuring compliance with project specifications, safety regulations, and quality standards.
  • Conduct regular site inspections, monitor progress, and identify potential risks or delays.
  • Manage contractors and subcontractors, ensuring that all work is completed according to the project timeline and budget.
  • Provide technical guidance and problem-solving support to the project team.
  • Review and interpret engineering drawings, designs, and specifications to ensure accurate implementation.
  • Maintain clear communication with stakeholders, including engineers, clients, and regulatory bodies.
  • Prepare and submit progress reports, quality control documentation, and site records.
  • Ensure adherence to environmental and water management regulations.

Requirements:

  • Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
  • Professional registration with ECSA (or eligibility for registration).
  • Minimum of 8 years experience in civil engineering, with a strong focus on dam construction and rehabilitation.
  • In-depth knowledge of construction methodologies, geotechnical engineering, and hydrology.
  • Proven experience in managing large-scale infrastructure projects.
  • Strong leadership and problem-solving skills with the ability to make sound engineering decisions under pressure.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Proficiency in relevant engineering software and project management tools.
