About the Role
We are seeking a semi-retired bookkeeper to join our team on a half-day basis, 4 mornings per week (approximately 9:00am to 1:00pm). This is not a stop-gap role, but rather a long-term opportunity for a mature candidate who is looking to continue working in their field. The ideal candidate will have previous experience in bookkeeping and electronic accounting packages, with Sage Cloud Accounting being a significant advantage.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist the Financial Manager with day-to-day operational tasks
- Bookkeeping and payroll support
- Managing accounts payable and receivable
- Reconciling financial records
- Preparing basic financial reports
- Processing supplier and customer invoices
- Capturing data into the General Ledger (GL)
- Loading payment requests and inter-company account transfers for authorisation on the FNB online platform
- Overseeing petty cash management
- Managing staff expense and travel claims
- Supporting the management of asset register
- Assisting with motor vehicle license renewals
- Liaising with payroll agency for payroll function support
- Preparing monthly project accounts and budget comparisons
- Compiling report requirements for donors
- Issuing and recording acknowledgements of receipts to donors
- Maintaining donor receipt records and liaising with donors
- Assisting with annual year-end audit
- Accounting functions for ad hoc events
Requirements
- Processing of supplier and customer invoices

- Loading of payment requests and inter-company account transfers
- Overseeing petty cash management
- Managing staff expense and travel claims
- Supporting the management of asset register
- Assisting with payroll function/liaising with payroll agency
Qualifications
- Recognised accounting qualification (e.g. BCom, ACCA, CIMA)
- Minimum 5 years experience in a similar position
