About the Role
Assegai Recruitment (Pty) Ltd is seeking an experienced Senior Engineering Geologist to join our team in Sandton. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in geotechnical investigations, data analysis, and site supervision, with a proven track record of delivering high-quality technical reports and presentations.
Key Responsibilities
- Geotechnical investigations: Planning, execution, and reporting for a variety of investigation levels (preliminary, feasibility, detailed design)
- Data analysis: Collection, analysis, and interpretation of geotechnical data
- Site supervision: Supervising geotechnical contractors and junior staff, including appointment of contractors, oversight of site operations, and ensuring adherence to project timelines, quality, and environmental standards
- Mentorship: Supervision and mentoring of junior staff (students, graduates, junior engineering geologists and geotechnologists)
- Reporting: Preparation and delivery of professional quality technical reports and presentations
- Decision making: Providing sound technical solutions and decisions throughout project phases
- Project delivery: Ensuring projects are completed on time, within budget, and to client specifications
- Procurement of work: Preparation of quotations, tenders, specifications, and cost estimates
Requirements
- BSc (Hons) Engineering Geology (minimum)
- Professional registration with SACNASP essential
- Involvement in voluntary associations would be beneficial (SAIEG)
- Minimum of 10 years’ practical experience in engineering geology
- Strong track record in geotechnical investigations for a variety of sectors, both in South Africa and Africa
- Dolomite-specific experience would be advantageous
- Rock engineering specific experience would be advantageous
