About the Role
Phakisa Holdings is seeking a highly experienced Senior Civil Engineer to join our team as a contractor. The successful candidate will be responsible for driving optimal plant improvement initiatives, developing maintenance strategies, and ensuring long-term sustainability of civil structures.
Key Responsibilities
- Define, technically justify, motivate and drive optimal plant improvement initiatives through technical investigations via the asset maintenance management practice
- Understand and apply the standards and descriptors of Operations Standards Framework pertaining to Setting of civil standards, and Maintenance Management
- Develop maintenance strategies related to civil structures
- Develop renewal roadmap to ensure long term sustainability of civil structures
- Recommend additional monitoring and analyses beyond the typical company and industry practices
- Identify, and take the lead on Civil Eng. studies
- Identify the need for Civil Eng. project’s
- Complete the proj obj and dev project charters
- Provide inputs into civil eng position papers
- Collaborate to compile cost-estimation
- Specify the req for civil eng drawings
- Compile the eng scope of work and ensure it translates into cost estimates for various phases of a civil engineering projects.
- Monitor and manage project budget, and cashflow
- Provide technical assistance to the client during the construction phase
- Ensure QA/QC and oversight of construction managers, contractors, consultants, engineers, and technicians inputs and outputs
- Ensure due diligence, throughout various stages/phases of the project lifecycle preliminary layout and up to the final engineering design
- Ensure that all safety and regulatory issues have been addressed and resolved
- Adhere to the best practices, standards, and procedures of the company
- Supervise and peer reviewing the work of other engineers
- Identify civil eng deviation, threats, risks, and opportunities through monitoring
- Analyze deviations, understand the cause of the deviation and eliminate/manage/control re-occurrence
- Ensure quality of technical proposals and ensure applicable technical gov has been applied through formal peer review process
- Review civil eng design drawings for completeness, accuracy and to ensure that it satisfies the intended scope of work
- Develop Civil Eng design specifications
Requirements
- 5+ relevant years in Construction environment
- University Bachelor’s Degree, B Tech Civil Engineering
- ECSA Registered Professional Engineer (wish)
Qualifications
