About the Role

African Echoes Recruitment is seeking a reliable and hands-on Assistant Maintenance Manager to support the Maintenance Manager in overseeing all maintenance operations at our Big 5 Game Lodge in Pilanesberg, North West. The ideal candidate will contribute to maintaining lodge facilities, equipment, and infrastructure to the highest standard, ensuring a seamless guest experience in a luxury environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist the Maintenance Manager with daily maintenance operations
  • Support implementation of preventative maintenance plans
  • Ensure lodge facilities and equipment are well maintained
  • Supervise maintenance staff when required
  • Conduct routine inspections of buildings, rooms, and public areas
  • Assist with stock control, tools, and maintenance supplies
  • Coordinate repairs and liaise with external contractors when needed
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental standards
  • Respond to maintenance issues and assist with emergency repairs
  • Maintain maintenance records and schedules

Requirements

  • RSA ID and legal residence essential
  • Relevant technical qualification (Electrical / Mechanical / Building) advantageous
  • Proven experience in a maintenance role within a lodge or hospitality environment
  • Strong knowledge of general maintenance including electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and building upkeep
  • Good problem-solving and fault-finding skills
  • Ability to assist in managing a maintenance team
  • Good organisational and stock control skills
  • Ability to work independently and under pressure
  • Valid driver’s license essential
