About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Senior Sous Chef to join our team at Stellenbosch Elegant Bistro, a signature deli and bistro in the heart of the Franschhoek Winelands. As part of our busy kitchen team, you will assist in daily operations and support the Head Chef in managing the restaurant’s culinary output.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage kitchen operations during peak periods
- Assist with menu creation, costing, stock control, and budgeting
- Supervise and manage staff to ensure efficient service delivery
- Implement effective utilization of ingredients to create innovative dishes for daily specials
- Maintain high standards of food quality and presentation
Requirements
- At least 5 years experience in busy a la carte restaurant operations
- Experience with menu creation, cost control, stock management, and budgeting
- Strong staff management and control skills
- Fine dining style cuisine experience with fresh contemporary plating
- Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet deadlines
Qualifications
- Formal education or certification in hospitality or a related field (optional)
