About the Role
A South African manufacturing company is seeking an experienced Flexographic Printer Operator to operate their brand new CI Press. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring high-quality print production, maintaining a safe and efficient work environment, and contributing to the success of the team.
Key Responsibilities
- Set up and operate the flexographic printing machine
- Ensure that the print quality meets company and customer standards
- Do running quality checks to ensure products consistently conform to all specifications
- Complete production documentation accurately
- Co-ordinate the activities of the Print Assistant(s) and the Make Ready Crew
- Ensure all Health and Safety Rules are always complied with
- Ensure both run speeds and waste meet the required item standard or better consistent reproduction of print standards
- Ensure the FSSC 22000 procedures and SOPs are always adhered to
- Ensure all events that occur on and/or affect the machine during shift are logged accurately (duration and description, product, and quality)
- Ensure that the required machine maintenance is reported and carried out
- Ensure machine and equipment are always kept clean and a full clean to required standards is done when scheduled
- Ensure that all tasks allocated by the Supervisor/HOD to you are and your assistants are executed effectively
- Ensure that efficiencies are always maintained
Requirements
- Matric
- Minimum 5 years experience operating high-speed CI flexographic printing presses
- Flexographic qualification with RPL (or any other Internationally recognized qualification)
- At least 7 years of experience as a Flexo Print Operator
- Experience running high speed Flexo machines, i.e. Uteco, Bobst, Comexi, W&H
- Reasonable Level of Numeracy
- Accurate record keeping
- Multi-tasking skills
- Good communication
- Ability to communicate in English including reading and neat handwriting
- Knowledge of raw materials, mounting, Colour matching including inks, solvents and selection of anilox rollers
- Strong leadership skills
- Good knowledge of flexible packaging substrates

Salary & Benefits
Salary is negotiable. The employee will be on a 40 hour shift system, working 4 days on, 4 days off (days off according to shift pattern), with the option to work either 06h00 to 18h00 or 18h00 to 06h00. Overtime hours will be worked as needed. Benefits include provident after 6 months of employment, with the employee contributing a portion and the company paying a portion.
