About the Role
We are seeking a highly experienced and skilled Game Farm Manager to oversee the daily operations of our game farm, ensuring the success of our hunting clients and the long-term sustainability of our business. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in game farm management, proven hunting proficiency, and excellent leadership skills.
Key Responsibilities
- Overall management of the farm and execution of development projects
- Guiding local and international hunting clients
- Veld management, habitat improvement, and anti-erosion initiatives
- Road planning, construction, and maintenance
- Dam construction, maintenance, and repairs
- Game fencing installation and upkeep
- Flood irrigation and irrigated lucerne cultivation
- Wildlife management, including game capture, counting, introductions, predator control, and supplementary feeding
- Management of a future buffalo herd
- Oversight of boreholes, windmills, and solar pumping systems
- Anti-poaching and farm security
- Maintenance of vehicles, machinery, and farm equipment
- Staff supervision, management, and motivation
- Record-keeping (wildlife numbers, rainfall, fence breaches, equipment usage, etc.)
- Management and upkeep of all accommodation (lodge, houses, gardens), including an extensive house garden
- Guest relations and hospitality
- Basic financial administration (tracking income and expenses)
- Preparation of monthly reports
- Regular reporting to and coordination with the owners
- Continuous improvement of infrastructure and operational standards
Requirements
- Minimum of 10 years relevant experience in game farm management
- Proven hunting proficiency
- Strong knowledge of firearms
- Professional Hunter (PH) license
- Firearm competency certification
- Valid drivers license
- Strong mechanical and maintenance skills
- Demonstrated experience in staff management and leadership
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- High level of integrity and reliability, with a long-term mindset
