Our client is a discerning private household in Johannesburg seeking a talented chef with a strong background in private homes, a love of fresh seasonal produce, and a thoughtful approach to healthy, balanced cooking. This is a rare opportunity to take culinary ownership of a high-end residential kitchen and shape the daily food experience of the Principal and family. Reporting into household management, the successful candidate will plan and prepare daily meals in a relaxed family-style format, develop varied seasonal menus drawing on locally sourced and homegrown produce, and step up confidently when more formal dining experiences are required for guests. The role calls for flexibility, creativity and meticulous kitchen management including stock control, supplier coordination and contributing to on-site food gardens and a sustainable approach to sourcing. ???????????? Eight to ten years experience as a chef, including a proven track record within private households. Strong grounding in healthy, fresh and seasonal cooking, with a sound understanding of nutrition and balanced meal planning. Equally comfortable delivering relaxed family-style meals and more formal, fine-dining experiences for guests. Able to run a private kitchen environment independently, with strong organisational skills and exacting attention to detail. Confident with menu design that flexes around seasonal availability and on-site garden produce. Solid experience in stock management, supplier coordination, and day-to-day kitchen systems and reporting. Calm under pressure, discreet, and consistently professional in a high-end residential setting. Service-driven, proactive, and adaptable to changing schedules.
