About the Role

Ikwezi Mining (Pty) Ltd is seeking a skilled Semi-Skilled Mechanic to join our team. As a key member of our operations, you will be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of mobile crushing and screening equipment, as well as performing various mechanical tasks to maintain plant performance and product quality.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate mobile crushing and screening equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Conduct pre-start inspections and daily equipment checks.
  • Monitor plant performance and report abnormalities immediately.
  • Adjust plant settings to maintain production targets and product quality.
  • Maintain housekeeping standards around the plant and work areas.
  • Assist with plant start-up and shutdown procedures.
  • Mechanical Assistance.
  • Assist mechanics with planned and breakdown maintenance.
  • Support repairs on crushers, screens, conveyors, pumps, and related equipment.
  • Perform basic mechanical tasks such as:
  • Changing screens and crusher liners
  • Greasing and lubrication
  • Belt tracking and adjustments
  • Basic component replacement
  • Assist with fault finding and reporting mechanical issues.
  • Safety & Compliance.
  • Comply with Mine Health & Safety Act and site safety procedures.
  • Participate in toolbox talks and safety meetings.
  • Identify and report unsafe conditions.
  • Ensure lock-out and isolation procedures are followed during maintenance.

Requirements

  • Grade 12 / NQF Level 4.
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in crushing and screening or a similar mining environment.
  • Basic mechanical knowledge and experience with tools.
  • Experience operating mobile crushers and screens is advantageous.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Medically fit for a mining environment.

Qualifications

  • Basic mechanical or engineering qualification.
