About the Role
As a Houseman, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of our hospitality establishment’s housekeeping department. Your duties will involve maintaining equipment, replenishing supplies, and performing various tasks to ensure guest satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure daily that all housekeepers have the correct equipment and have refilled their chemical bottles correctly
- Ensure daily that the scullery staff have enough chemicals, cloths, sponges, and scourers
- Ensure daily that the kitchen and canteen chemicals are sufficient for the day
- Ensure daily that the laundry has sufficient chemicals for the day and that the washing machine and tumble dryer are clean
- Assist housekeepers in getting their linen and converters to and from the laundry/rooms daily (in morning and at turndown)
- Assist housekeepers in getting any equipment needed to their rooms
- Report any lost property, maintenance, and breakages noticed immediately to management
- Ensure all guest supplies are replenished in the morning and at turndowns if requested by your supervisor or manager
- Refill rainwater jugs in rooms regularly
- Check all lights in public areas and rooms are in working order and replace bulbs as necessary
- Assist in getting barn or boardroom ready for any meetings or conferences daily
- Perform in-house maintenance tasks as noticed or requested by supervisor or MOD, and report to management
- Check room folders and bring to reception to get them refilled
- Advise the supervisor/managers if any products have been taken by guests
- Hand in guest questionnaires and old welcome cards to MOD
- Ensure bedroom and bathroom lights are off during the day
- Assist supervisor/managers with turndowns if requested
- Ensure regular care of all housekeeping equipment
- Stock levels: advise Manager if stocks are low
- On barn night, follow instructions from Manager on how to set up the barn, ensuring tables and furniture are laid out correctly and that the barn is clean
- Ensure all equipment is stored in the correct place at the end of the day (i.e., ladders returned to office storeroom)
- Regularly clean and maintain storerooms
