About the Role
The SHEC Officer will be responsible for implementing and monitoring the mines’ SHEC management plan, ensuring compliance with the Mine Health & Safety Act and environmental regulations, and promoting environmental best practices and community engagements initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Implement and monitor the mines SHEC management plan
- Conduct risk assessment, safety inspections and incident investigations
- Ensure compliance with the Mine Health & Safety Act and environmental regulations
- Maintain SHEC registers, safety statistics and incident logs
- Facilitate toolbox talks and safety inductions for employees and contractors
- Liaise with the department of mineral resources and energy (DMRE) and local community
- Promote environmental best practices and community engagements initiatives
Requirements
- 3-5 years SHE experiences, preferably in a mining or industrial environment
- Knowledge of MHSA and environmental legislation
- SAMTRAC or equivalent safety training preferred
Qualifications
National or certificate in safety Management / Environmental Science or similar
