About the Role
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Solar Design Engineer to join our growing renewable energy team based in Zambia. This role is ideal for a professional with strong technical expertise in solar PV system design, who can also communicate effectively in Afrikaans.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop solar PV systems (residential, commercial, and/or utility-scale)
- Perform site assessments, system sizing, and energy yield analysis
- Prepare detailed engineering drawings and technical documentation
- Collaborate with project managers, installers, and clients to ensure optimal system performance
- Ensure compliance with local regulations, standards, and safety requirements
- Provide technical support during installation and commissioning phases
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Renewable Energy, or a related field
- Proven experience in solar PV design and engineering
- Proficiency in design software (e.g., AutoCAD, PVsyst, Helioscope or similar)
- Strong understanding of electrical systems and grid integration
- Fluency in Afrikaans (spoken and written) is essential
- Good communication and problem-solving skills
- Willingness to be based in Zambia
