Upington: Forklift Technician (Field Service Specialist)

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Forklift Technician (Field Service Specialist) to join our team based in Upington, Northern Cape. As a key member of our field service team, you will be responsible for servicing and maintaining various types of forklift equipment and machinery at customer sites and within workshop environments.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform scheduled servicing, preventative maintenance and repairs on forklift equipment and handling machinery.
• Conduct fault finding, diagnostics and troubleshooting on diesel, LPG and electric forklifts.
• Attend customer breakdowns and emergency call-outs.
• Inspect, test and commission equipment after repairs and maintenance activities.
• Diagnose hydraulic, mechanical, electrical and electronic system faults.
• Complete detailed service reports, inspection documentation and maintenance records.
• Ensure all equipment complies with operational and safety standards.
• Conduct pre-delivery inspections (PDI) and machine handovers where required.
• Monitor machine condition and identify potential failures before breakdowns occur.
• Manage vehicle stock levels, consumables and spare parts inventory.
• Liaise with customers regarding technical findings and repair recommendations.
• Maintain service vehicles, tools and company equipment in a professional condition.
• Adhere to company SHEQ standards and site-specific safety requirements.
• Support workshop activities and technical projects when required.
• Participate in standby, overtime and after-hours breakdown support as operationally required.

Requirements

• Grade 12 (Matric)
• Qualified Trade Tested Diesel Mechanic, Auto Electrician, Millwright, Earthmoving Mechanic or similar technical trade
• Min. 3 years post-trade experience in forklift maintenance and repairs
