About the Role

The Hiring House is seeking a highly skilled Client Investment Tax Lead to join their team in Western Cape. As a key member of the investment tax team, you will be responsible for driving the compilation and execution of test plans to ensure accuracy of tax calculations and reports. You will also be responsible for ongoing monitoring of data for data quality issues and reviewing business rules, forms, processes, and systems to ensure client tax administration and reporting objectives are met.

Key Responsibilities

  • Drive the compilation and execution on the test plans to ensure accuracy of tax calculations and reports – IT3(b), (c) and payroll – IRP5, IT3(a)
  • Ongoing monitoring of data for data quality issues and push-back to the operation for remediation
  • Review of the business rules, forms, processes and systems to ensure client tax administration and reporting objectives are met. (input data)
  • Ongoing review and monitoring of PAYE calculations and payroll submissions for Living Annuity incomes.
  • Review of the directives deductions and reporting of this via the payroll submissions.
  • IT3(c) testing
  • Review calculations of capital gains and losses
  • Review and testing of complex corporate action processing.
  • Review for false disposals i.e. transfers handling, fund class switches
  • IT3(b) testing – review processing of fund income distributions, dividends, corporate actions. Test reporting.
  • Handling of the tax deducts (income, capital gains taxes) for share portfolios (PSPs) within endowment policies
  • Review and testing of capital gains tax deductions and end of year ‘true-up’
  • Assist in the testing of any system changes that impact client and five funds tax.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of financial products and processes ie LISP products – discretionary investments, retirement annuities, living annuities, preservation funds, tax free savings, endowment policies
  • Understanding of financial investments – collective investments, ETF’s and shares
  • Strong understanding of accounting and tax.
  • Ability to work with and understand data;
  • SQL and excel skills
  • Analytical, logical
  • Understanding of the testing process – ie how to devise expected results and test for and problem-solve the anomalies
  • Highly numerate
