About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Instrumentation Technician to join our team in the Western Cape region. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining, managing, and optimizing instrumentation, control systems, and SCADA visuals across all DSA sites.

Key Responsibilities

  • Responsible for maintenance, management and optimization of all instrumentation, control systems, and SCADA visuals, industrial networking and production information management on all DSA sites
  • Managing requests from all parties to ensure the system remains optimal and fit for purpose in line with world class manufacturing standards
  • Managing the critical spares requirement for all electronics and instrumentation
  • Initiate and execute innovations and process improvements, either through continuous improvements or larger projects
  • Managing and negotiating with external suppliers to ensure cost effective management of instrumentation and controls
  • Ensure production and equipment data and information are available where and when it is required
  • Implementing of best-in-class strategies to reduce costs and constant improvement of processes
  • Familiar with Root Cause Analysis and various techniques to solve problems
  • Based on your continuous analyses, you integrate and execute best practices to improve engineering services
  • Continuous learning and benchmarking with the industry should enable you to develop and implement highest standards at the company
  • Your standard working agenda includes regular presentations on upper management related to overall performance

Requirements

  • Diploma in Mechatronic/Electronic Engineering
  • 5–10 years’ experience within a manufacturing environment, with strong exposure to instrumentation, PLCs, SCADA systems, and historians
  • Instrumentation experience in the Food & Beverage industry
  • Strong working knowledge of ASI, IO Link, Profinet, Siemens TIA Portal, VSD’s, Ignition SCADA and SAP
  • Compiling and Reading P&ID’s and Wiring diagrams, familiar with E-plan
  • An understanding of Industrial networks & cyber security
  • Created Functional Description Specifications according to requirements
  • Familiar with ISA-88 & ISA–95 programming standard, and the implementation and troubleshooting of it
  • Fluent in English
  • Manufacturing processes & Product knowledge
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Attention to detail
