Western Cape: Packhouse Operations Manager posted by M3 Human Capital Management

Our client, an established agricultural and food production business based in Clanwilliam, is seeking to appoint an experienced Packhouse Operations Manager to oversee the efficient operation of their vegetable packhouse and processed foods division. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing production, people, costs, facilities and equipment, while ensuring productivity, quality, and continuous operational improvement. Key responsibilities will include (but not be limited to): *Manage the day-to-day operations of the packhouse and production facilities *Lead and develop production teams to achieve operational and quality targets *Monitor and control labour, raw material, packaging material, maintenance, and other operational costs *Ensure compliance with food safety, quality, health and safety, and company standards *Oversee production planning, resource utilisation, and operational efficiency *Manage the maintenance of facilities, equipment, and packhouse machinery, including fault identification and coordination of repairs *Implement preventative maintenance programmes and support continuous improvement initiatives *Analyse operational performance and implement practical solutions to improve productivity and efficiency. Essential qualifications, skills and experience: Degree in Industrial, Mechanical, Agricultural, or related Engineering discipline; Minimum 5 years’ experience in a production, manufacturing, agricultural processing, packhouse, or operations management environment; Proven leadership and people management experience; Experience in cost control, production planning, and operational management; Practical understanding of machinery, equipment maintenance, and fault-finding; Strong analytical, organisational, and problem-solving skills; Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and operational reporting systems.
