About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and skilled Lodge Manager to join our luxury small-scale safari lodge in Zululand, KZN. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of lodge operations, ensuring a seamless guest experience, and driving business growth.
Key Responsibilities
- Daily lodge and farm oversight
- Guest check-in coordination and full guest flow management
- Staff supervision across all departments (Field Guides, Front of House, Housekeeping, Maintenance & Gardening)
- Oversee kitchen operations and food preparation (culinary experience essential)
- Limited menu preparation on guest request
- Quality control of units, pool, vehicles, maintenance, and ongoing lodge projects
- Stock control and inventory management
- Reporting to head office
- Coordinate ranger schedules, guest activities, and operational logistics
- Liaise with reserve management and external stakeholders
- Ensure smooth day-to-day lodge operations in a small, high-touch environment
Requirements
- Daily lodge and farm oversight experience
- Guest check-in coordination and full guest flow management skills
- Staff supervision across all departments experience
- Culinary experience essential for kitchen operations
- Ability to manage inventory and stock control
- Strong reporting and communication skills
- Experience in coordinating ranger schedules, guest activities, and operational logistics
Qualifications
- Formal education in Hospitality Management or related field (e.g., BBA, BA Hospitality)
- Relevant work experience in lodge management or a similar role
- Food safety certification (e.g., HACCP)
Salary & Benefits
R20 000 per annum, live-in role.
