About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and results-driven Feedlot Manager to take full responsibility for the performance, health, and operational efficiency of the feedlot. This role requires a strong leader with veterinary expertise who can oversee all aspects of feedlot operations, from animal health and nutrition team management and financial performance. The successful candidate will drive productivity, ensure the highest standards of animal welfare, and lead a team committed to operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities

  • Animal Health & Welfare: Lead herd health management, diagnose and treat conditions, implement preventative programs, and ensure high welfare standards.
  • Feedlot Operations: Manage daily operations including feeding, cattle movement, infrastructure, feed quality, and resource allocation.
  • Veterinary Oversight: Conduct herd health assessments, maintain accurate records, and coordinate with external veterinarians.
  • Compliance & Risk Management: Ensure regulatory compliance, biosecurity, and staff/livestock safety.
  • Leadership & Team Management: Lead, train, and develop the feedlot team, fostering a culture of accountability and performance.
  • Financial & Performance Management: Manage budgets, KPIs, and operational efficiency; drive profitability and cost-saving initiatives.
  • Reporting & Stakeholder Coordination: Maintain operational records, prepare performance reports, and liaise with suppliers, management, and industry stakeholders.
  • Continuous Improvement: Implement industry best practices, innovations, and process enhancements.

Requirements

  • Experience: Minimum 5 years in feedlot management or large-scale livestock operations

Qualifications

  • Veterinary Degree: BVSc, DVM, or equivalent (strongly preferred)
