Job Summary
A large, diversified, and well-established group based in the Cape Winelands is seeking to hire an experienced, motivated, and driven Finance Manager. The business is mainly involved in Commercial Agriculture, Export, Property Development, Retail, and Marketing.
As Finance Manager, your role would be critical in overseeing the financial operations, management reporting, and ensuring the financial health and success of a complex division and the organization. Your duties and responsibilities would encompass a wide range of tasks, including strategic planning, financial analysis, reporting, budgeting, cash flow forecasting, and compliance.
The ideal candidate must be a go-getter who is able to function independently, as well as in a team, and be a strong manager. Exposure within the agriculture, farming, citrus, processing, or production environments will be nice to have, but not required. A formal tertiary and professional qualification is required, and experience with ERP systems will be an added advantage.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced finance professional with a professional designation to join a large and established group of companies.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Review, manage and ensure General Ledger code setup and accurate, meaningful financial accounting processing in the entitys ERP system.
- Review and prepare monthly management journals, depreciation and recoveries.
- Review monthly reconciliations and checks to ensure integrity of financial information.
- Oversee and manage debtors, creditors and intercompany account maintenance, reconciliation and collection / payment.
- Compilation of monthly management accounts and reporting packs for external financial institutions and stakeholders.
- Gross profit summary reporting.
- Forex management.
- Management of annual external audit and preparation of statutory financial statements.
- Responsible for the review and submission of monthly VAT / SARS returns for the organisation.
- Cash flow planning and management, budget preparation and forecasting.
- Analysis of costs and driving for efficiencies in processes to drive profitability.
- Maintains financial security by establishing and following internal controls.
- Review and manage fixed asset register maintenance and verification.
- Review and improve procedures and controls for proper inventory control.
- Establish and maintain credible relationships with external and internal stakeholders, suppliers and customers.
- Risk management and mitigation through maintenance of insurance cover and recovery of loss.
- Information and knowledge sharing across divisions of the group to drive best practice and standardisation of information, data and procedures.
- Records management according to best practice.
- Ensures compliance with relevant laws and regulations by studying existing and new legislation, enforcing adherence to requirements, and advising management on needed actions.
- Prepare and complete internal cost audits and analysis, to identify and recommend solutions to enhance competitiveness.
- Comply with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) for financial statements.
- Conduct financial analysis and risk assessments to identify opportunities for cost optimization and revenue enhancement.
- Provide strategic financial recommendations to the senior management team.
- Ad hoc duties and responsibilities assigned by Senior Management.
Qualifications and Experience:
- CA(SA), CGMA ACMA (CIMA), AGA(SA), PA(SA) or similar professional qualification.
- Minimum 2 years post-articles experience.
- Microsoft Office Suite.
- Advanced Excel with knowledge of financial modelling, pivot tables, finance formula etc.
- ERP Accounting systems experience a plus.
Remuneration:
- R720,000 to R960,000 pa cost to company, depending on experience.
