Cape Town City Centre: Bookkeeper / Payroll Administrator

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Bookkeeper / Payroll Administrator to join our team in Cape Town City Centre. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing our company’s financial records, processing payroll, and ensuring compliance with international payment regulations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Check and review bank balances
  • Print bank statements from the SB Online banking system
  • Process and maintain cash books for all entities (8 companies)
  • Prepare, review, and complete bank reconciliations for all cash books
  • Verify payments and load EFTs on the SB Online banking system
  • Raise debtors invoices for GRS SA, GRS USA, and Beachwood
  • Liaise with and support auditors as required (requests, schedules, supporting documents)
  • Bookkeeping for China companies x4 (China companies sends accounts where this is processed into Sage)
  • Perform the full payroll function using the VIP Payroll system, including capturing salary entries
  • Process leave documentation and maintain leave records
  • Generate payroll reports and payslips
  • Load salary payments on the SB Online banking system
  • Submit statutory returns accurately and on time via efiling/Easy File, including PAYE, UIF, and SDL
  • Prepare and reconcile IRP5/IT3(a) certificates (bi-annual and annual)
  • Prepare the annual Compensation Fund return of earnings (including 12-month report analysis and breakdowns)
  • Maintain SETA training schedules and update staff payroll-related spreadsheets
  • Maintain employee records, update master data for new employees, and file payroll documentation monthly
  • Apply payroll software updates/enhancements as required
  • Coordinate international payment processing, including requesting and completing the required BOP documentation
  • Compile and maintain supporting documentation for cross-border transactions as required

Requirements

  • Matric
  • Relevant qualification highly advantageous
  • Experience in bookkeeping dealing with Forex
  • Strong computer skills, experience on an accounting software and advanced Excel
  • Minimum 10 years experience dealing with an international company
