Job Description
About the Role
Hire Resolve’s client is seeking a dynamic and experienced Senior Product Owner: Head of Product (Consumer / B2C) to lead and drive the evolution of their consumer-facing product offerings. As a pivotal member of their leadership team, you will be responsible for defining the product vision, strategy, and roadmap for their core “buy now, pay later” service and exploring innovative new features and functionalities that enhance the user experience and drive growth.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and articulate a compelling product vision and strategy for our consumer-facing products, aligning with the overall company goals and market opportunities within the evolving BNPL landscape.
- Create and maintain a comprehensive product roadmap, clearly outlining key features, timelines, and resource allocation for product development, ensuring transparency and alignment across the organization.
- Oversee the entire product development lifecycle, from ideation and concept testing (potentially exploring new features like enhanced wallet functionality, personalized offers, or integrations) through to successful launch and continuous post-launch iteration and improvement.
- Lead, mentor, and inspire the consumer product team, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and high performance, while embodying our fun and team-driven spirit.
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including Engineering, Design, Marketing, Sales, and Customer Support, to ensure seamless execution of the product strategy and successful delivery of product enhancements and new features (e.g., a wallet feature, potential new payment options).
- Conduct thorough market research, analyze user feedback (potentially from our existing user base), and monitor competitor activities (within the BNPL and broader fintech space) to identify opportunities, unmet user needs, and inform strategic product decisions.
- Drive successful product launches and adoption by collaborating with Marketing and Sales to develop and execute effective go-to-market strategies that resonate with our target consumer.
- Establish and monitor key product performance metrics, analyze product performance data (e.g., usage of a wallet feature, repayment rates), identify areas for optimization, and translate insights into actionable product improvements.
- Communicate effectively and build strong relationships with stakeholders at all levels within the company and potentially with external partners, ensuring alignment and buy-in for the product vision and strategy.
- Act as a positive role model, upholding our collaborative and innovative company culture.
Minimum Requirements
- A relevant tertiary qualification would be beneficial.
- A minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in product management, with a strong focus on B2C products and a proven track record of success.
- Direct experience within the financial technology (fintech) sector, particularly with payment solutions or lending products (like BNPL), is a significant advantage.
- Demonstrated experience in leading and managing product teams, including coaching and developing product owners and/or product managers, and a history of successfully launching and scaling B2C products that have achieved significant user adoption. A strong understanding of underlying technologies is highly desirable.
- Exceptional strategic thinking skills with the ability to develop and articulate a clear and compelling product vision and roadmap that aligns with our business objectives and leverages the unique aspects of the BNPL model.
- A deep understanding of B2C product management best practices, methodologies (e.g., Agile, Lean), and strategies for user acquisition, engagement, and retention within a consumer-facing digital environment.
- A strong technical aptitude with the ability to understand and effectively collaborate with engineering teams on the feasibility and implementation of product features.
- A genuine passion for understanding customer needs, empathizing with users, and translating those insights into product solutions that deliver exceptional user experiences within the context of a financial service like BNPL.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to leverage data and analytics tools to inform product decisions, measure product performance (e.g., transaction volumes, repayment behavior), and identify areas for optimization of our service.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills with the ability to effectively influence and build relationships across all levels of the organization and with external stakeholders.
- A proven ability to be a strong problem-solver, capable of navigating complex challenges and developing innovative solutions within a fast-paced and evolving market.
