Job Description

ROLE PURPOSE The Junior Test Analyst (Manual & Automation) supports Nexios Service Management and ASOC TCOE environments by performing manual and automated testing across applications, integrations, and platforms. The role ensures delivery of highquality, stable solutions through thorough test planning, test execution, defect management, and collaboration with crossfunctional teams including Developers, Automation Engineers, Business Analysts, Product Owners, and Scrum Masters. This position forms part of Nexios quality assurance capability, contributing to improved reliability, reduced production defects, and continuous process optimisation. ROLE REQUIREMENT Test Planning & Preparation Review and understand business requirements, user stories, acceptance criteria, and technical specifications. Contribute to test plans, testscenario development, and estimation sessions. Create and maintain test cases, test scripts, and test data for functional, regression, and integration testing. Ensure test environments, tools, and datasets are prepared and validated prior to execution. Participate in test walkthroughs and ensure traceability to requirements. Manual Test Execution & Defect Management Execute manual test cases and record outcomes accurately. Identify, log, classify, and track defects using tools such as Azure DevOps or JIRA. Conduct retesting and regression validation after fixes. Participate in rootcause analysis sessions to drive defect prevention. Support UAT execution and feedback resolution. Automation Testing Support Develop and maintain automated test scripts using Selenium, UFT, Appium, or similar tools. Assist in building and enhancing regression automation packs. Execute scheduled automation suites and analyse execution results. Maintain automation frameworks and support continuous improvement initiatives. Ensure alignment with DevOps and CI/CD practices where applicable. Quality Assurance & Collaboration Ensure compliance with QA standards, STLC methodologies, and Agile ways of working. Work closely with crossfunctional teams to clarify requirements, acceptance criteria, and dependencies. Document testing processes, results, and improvement recommendations. Support audit readiness by maintaining proper test evidence and artefacts. Reporting & Documentation Provide progress updates including defect trends, test execution status, and identified risks. Maintain detailed test artefacts including traceability matrices, defect logs, and regression packs. Contribute to postimplementation reviews and lessonslearned sessions. Continuous Improvement Identify efficiency opportunities across manual and automation testing. Contribute to QA best-practice development and framework enhancements. Participate in upskilling, TCOE capability growth, and internal training initiatives. PROFESSIONAL COMPETENCIES Understanding of software development and testing lifecycle (SDLC/STLC). Foundational experience in automated testing principles and scripting. Familiarity with tools: Selenium, UFT, Appium, Azure DevOps, JIRA, TestLink. Understanding of version control tools (Git), CI/CD concepts, and DevOps pipelines. Knowledge of Agile frameworks (Scrum / Kanban). Understanding of test-case design techniques and structured test documentation. Awareness of ITIL, service operations, and incident/change processes (advantageous). Ability to analyse logs, APIs, and integration points (advantageous) . QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE Matric / Grade 12 Diploma or Degree in Information Technology, Software Engineering, Computer Science (Preferred). Basic understanding of programming languages like Java, Python, c#, VBScript or JavaScript. 12 years experience in software testing (manual and/or automation). ISTQB Foundation Level certification (Preferred). Exposure to telecommunications, managed services, ASOC/NSOC environments, or enterprise applications advantageous.
