About the Role

As a Commercial Manager at Surge Staffing Solutions, you will be responsible for leading and managing all commercial aspects of civil and mining projects to ensure profitability and risk mitigation. You will work closely with clients, subcontractors, suppliers, and project stakeholders to develop strong relationships and provide strategic input to project teams.

Key Responsibilities

Lead and manage all commercial aspects of civil and mining projects
Prepare detailed cost estimates, tender documentation, bills of quantities, and project budgets
Monitor project costs, valuations, variations, and final accounts to ensure alignment with contractual obligations
Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients, subcontractors, suppliers, and project stakeholders
Conduct contract administration, including reviewing agreements, claims, and disputes
Provide commercial advice and strategic input to project and executive teams
Implement cost control systems and report regularly on project financial performance
Mentor and guide junior QS and commercial staff to build team capability

Requirements

Degree or Diploma in Quantity Surveying or equivalent

Qualifications

Proven track record in commercial management, cost control, and contract administration
Strong knowledge of South African construction contracts (FIDIC, NEC, JBCC, GCC) and legal frameworks
Excellent negotiation, leadership, and communication skills
Advanced proficiency in MS Excel, MS Project, and commercial management software
