About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Professional Construction Manager to join our well-established Civil Engineering and General Building Contractor operating Nationally and in Africa. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining full contract compliance on all projects, managing complex contractual conditions, and ensuring dispute resolution processes are followed. This is a high-level position that requires strong project management skills, commercial acumen, and excellent client relationship management.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain full contract compliance on all projects
- Manage projects with onerous contractual conditions and special conditions of contract
- Identify and manage risk on the projects
- Compile sub-contract agreements and monitor their performance during projects
- Responsible for ultimate monthly payment certification for main contracts and sub-contracts
- Compiling new rates and variation orders where required as well as extension of time and other claims
- Client and Stakeholder management
- Cost control including cost reporting
- Budgeting and forecasting
- Quality control
- Health and safety implementation & control
- Environmental management
- Construction / contractual programming
- Dealing with commercial / contractual issues
- HR / IR matters
- Assisting with engineering solutions to technical difficulties
- Tendering / Bid leading
- High level decision making
Requirements
- BSc/ BTech/ National Diploma in Civil Engineering
- Professionally registered with SACPCMP as a Professional Construction Manager or Project manager
- 10 years experience on Roads, Bulk Earthworks and Concrete works
- Proficient with CCS & MS Projects
- Skills Contracts and sub-contract management
- Effective management of client relationships and Stakeholders
- Understanding of contractual conditions and relevant industry regulations
